Mouloud Boukala (Chairholder) and Véro Leduc (collaborator) obtained total funding of $1,268,898 for the creation of the Handicap, Sourditude et Innovations (HSI) Laboratory (Handicap, Deafness and Innovations) infrastructure project.
The Handicap, Sourditude et Innovations (HSI) Laboratory (Handicap, Deafness and Innovations) is an inclusive and collaborative space aimed at supporting and strengthening the cultural citizenship of people with disabilities and signing deaf people. Through a participatory and emancipatory action-research approach, artists, researchers and cultural professionals will collaborate and improve cultural accessibility and equity. The activities of the HSI Lab will promote the cultural and artistic expressions of deaf and disabled people through new cultural accessibility strategies and creations, such as sound (eg podcasts), visual (eg videos, virtual reality) and tactile productions. (ex: testimonials in Braille, creations by 3D printing).
