Based on the principles of equity, of diversity and inclusion, the activities leading to the development of the database bring together people with diverse abilities and rely on the development of a reciprocal relationship with collaborators from the academic, community and media sectors. , by valuing the contribution of each person in the knowledge production process. Comprising iconic (comics) and audiovisual (fictional and documentary films and television series) productions, this public database will identify how, from more than 80 entries, individuals with disabilities are portrayed in the media Canadians (heroization, stigmatization, autonomy, dependence, etc.) as well as the characteristics of these (self)representations and of these people/characters (diegetic role, gender, sexual orientation, profession exercised, situation of feigned or real disability, etc.).”
